Isolation and Mental Health

This series has been created during the lockdown in London – May 2020, which observes mental health issues and reactions of the Italian community in London: one of my first experiments of intersecting newspaper articles and
the momentary inability to photograph freely. Experiencing many of the things that the psychologists told me during the interviews. Besides the article itself, I reflected observing spaces and people from my household under a different light. The clear lights and deep shadows recall the state of mind that oscillates between the pleasure of calm and the anguish given by uncertainty. Time seems to stop to widen the gap between social layers, giving actual time for some deep reflection on the system we are living in. This is very much politics, probably, but it is physiologic to notice the influence of governments’ actions and the consequences on individuals’ lives.
